Educational Qualification [கல்வித்தகுதி]
1. SI (Master) – i) 10+2 or its equivalent from a recognized Board or University; and ii) 2nd class master certificate issued by Central/State Inland Water Transport Authority/ Mercantile Marine Department.
2. SI (Engine Driver) – i) 10+2 or its equivalent from a recognized Board or University; and ii) 1st class engine driver certificate issued by Central/State Inland Water Transport Authority/Mercantile Marine Department.
3. HC (Master) – i) Matriculation from a recognized Board or equivalent; and ii) Serang Certificate
4. HC (Engine Driver) – i) Matriculation from a recognized Board or equivalent; and ii) Possessing 2nd class Engine Driver certificate.
5. HC (Workshop) – i) Matriculation from a recognized Board or equivalent; and ii) Industrial Training Instituted Diploma in Motor Mechanic (Diesel/Petrol Engine), Electrician, AC Technician, Electronics, Machinist, Carpentry & Plumbing for the post of HC (Workshop) Mechanic (Diesel/Petrol Engine), HC (Workshop) Electrician, HC (Workshop) AC Technician, HC (Workshop) Electronics, HC (Workshop) Machinist, HC (Workshop) Carpenter and HC (Workshop) Plumber from a recognized Institution respectively.
6. Constable (Crew) – i) Matriculation from a recognized Board equivalent; and ii) One year experience in operation of Boat below 265 HP; iii Should know swimming in deep water without any assistance.

Written Exam Physical Standards Test (PST), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Document Verification, Practical Test & Medical Examination
Application / Exam Fees
Candidates applying for SI (Master/Engine Driver) will pay Rs. 200/- (Rupees two hundred only) and candidates applying for HC (Master/Engine Driver/Workshop) & Constable (Crew) will pay Rs.100/- (Rupees one hundred only) as examination fee through one of the following payment modes. Besides, Rs.47.20/- as service charges will be levied by Common Service Centre (CSC) from every candidate including exempted categories
